YES.....you can read the books/look at the lore summaries on youtube if you are a mortal, or you can take out all your savings and get into the moddeling branch. It's fun either way

There is no turning back from 40k. Once you are in, they have you. Either playing the actual game, just painting the figures, reading the books or just dive into the lore. There are so many ways to enjoy it.

Here's a tiny piece of lore more people should know about. Crotalids. Imagine a scarier crocodile that can teleport across the galaxy. It is often thought that only sentient species in 40k become psykers, but there are examples of non-sentient animal aliens like crotalids that also have psychic powers - and crotalids all have the ability to throw themselves through the warp. They do this to hunt and to migrate. In 40k, there is always a chance that a giant angry starving space crocodile is going to rip a hole into reality right behind you and eat you. They can go across the galaxy, you are never safe from the crotalids. In most sci-fi universes, something like that would be a pretty scary threat, right? In 40k they're barely even a footnote.

Go to the youtube channel Luetin09, in my opinion he makes the best lore videos on youtube. But be warned, once you're in you're in, thats it theres no going back. This is a very, very deep rabbit hole.
